Whilst we love travelling and meeting people all across the country, it’s also a great pleasure to be able to walk around the corner to talk about a wedding. Claire and Simon literally live a couple of streets away from us so it is no exaggeration to say that we walked to meet them. One of the advantages to living where we do (all of us) is that we’re only a hop, skip and a jump from the coast and Claire and Simon had chosen to hold their wedding reception a stone’s throw from the beach at the Staincliffe Hotel in Seaton Carew, a local seaside resort.

When the day itself arrived, on a beautiful May Day weekend, everything began with a very emotional wedding ceremony at St Peter’s Church in the nearby village of Wolviston. The only real challenge was getting the ring onto Simon’s finger. I mean this in the physical sense rather than any reluctance on his part and I’m sure that the photos show he was a more than willing participant.

After the service, everyone made the short trip to the Staincliffe Hotel at nearby Seaton Carew in Hartlepool for the wedding breakfast. Once the meal was over, the party really started and, fuelled by music from local band Central Park, the festivities didn’t stop until late into the night.
