We met up with Sophie & Michael on Bank Holiday Monday after having decided on the Quayside at Newcastle as the location for their pre-wedding photoshoot. It was half-term and “National Take-Your-Kids-to-Work Day.” Well, this is what I’m now re-naming it as, due to a lack of baby-sitters,  Alison and I had our two girls with us but Sophie and Michael were more than ok with this. They were both wonderful with the kids and at one point, I caught Eleanor, my youngest, walking hand-in-hand with Sophie.

As it happened, it turns out that there is a beach by the river, named the  “Quayside Seaside” and the girls, with Alison in tow, decided that they’d found Nirvana and would go no further. We soon took advantage of being left to our own devices and before long, we’d covered pretty much every square inch of the Quayside on both the Newcastle and Gateshead sides of the river.  A number of the iconic sights in Newcastle are down on the Quayside and this made for some wonderful urban style photos which will be a complete contrast to the wedding at Langley Castle this August.

Alison and I are both looking forward to catching up with Sophie and Michael again soon and we promise that this time, we’ll leave the girls with their grandparents. Honest.
